OEM battery supplier checklist

Run a supplier through these checks before you commit to an OEM battery order.

Specification

• Standard family confirmed: JIS, DIN, BCI, AS or SA.
• Voltage, capacity (Ah) and CCA agreed in writing.
• Case size, terminal type and polarity defined.
• Reference model or drawing attached to the order.

Certifications

Request current certificates rather than marketing claims. Chengguang Energy holds IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, CE.

Factory capability

• Factory area and number of production lines.
• Daily output versus your annual volume.
• Export experience and destination markets.

Chengguang Energy operates a 200,000 m² plant with 18 lines and exports to 70+ countries.

Commercial terms

• MOQ: 1 × 20ft container (approx. 600–800 units, model dependent).
• Lead time: 30–45 days after order confirmation.
• Payment: T/T (30% deposit, 70% before shipment) or L/C at sight.
• Incoterms: FOB Tianjin / CFR / CIF.
• Warranty: 12 months from bill of lading date.

Repeatability

Confirm how the manufacturer keeps subsequent orders identical to the approved sample — label, packaging, specification and quality.

Red flags

• No current certificates when you ask for them.
• Quoting before the standard family and CCA basis are fixed.
• No sample available from a recent production run.

If any of these appear, slow the process down and re-check the five-point decision framework before placing volume.

Check the quote, not just the price

A quote is a six-part scope. If any part is missing, the number is not comparable:

• Tooling costs — one-time or phased, and refundable or not.
• MOQ structure — prototype / pilot / production clearly separated.
• Test report scope — transport, safety and performance reports listed.
• Warranty terms — duration, exclusions and failure handling.
• Engineering support — included or separately charged.
• Change control — a formal ECO process, not a verbal agreement.

Use the same six fields when you issue the OEM battery RFQ so suppliers are forced to quote on scope, not on a bare unit number.
